Meet the Candidates
CHRISTOPHER
Alan CROPP
Democrat
My name is Christopher Alan and I am excited to announce my intent to run for Green Tree Council.
Green Tree has always been home to me. It’s a strong, vibrant community where neighbors look out for one another and people take pride in where they live. I’m running for Borough Council because I want to help keep Green Tree a great place to live, work, and grow while ensuring that everyone has a voice in the decisions shaping our town.
As a local business owner, I understand how important it is to be involved and invested in the future of Green Tree. I’ve always believed in giving back, whether through supporting the library’s Summer Reading Program, contributing to the Green Tree Woman’s Club, and donating candy from Scoozie’s and special Halloween buckets for the Green Tree Halloween Parade.
It is important to me to bring small businesses back to our community and welcome entrepreneurs into our neighborhood to provide plenty of awesome places to patronize in our community.
You may have seen me at Light Up Night, leading the community wreath class, or recently calling Bingo numbers at Aiken Elementary School—all moments that reflect my passion for bringing people together and making Green Tree the best it can be.
Now, I’m ready to take that commitment even further. If elected, I will prioritize open communication and work hard to keep Green Tree the strong and welcoming community we all love.
I’d love your support—whether it’s spreading the word, sharing your ideas, or just having a conversation about the future of our borough. Together, we can ensure that Green Tree continues to thrive!

Chris
Republican
My wife, Chira, and I moved to Green Tree in 2018 with our four children. I grew up in Brookline, graduated from Seton-LaSalle in 1999, and earned a business management degree from Waynesburg University. In 2011, I completed a master’s in competitive intelligence systems at Robert Morris University.
I started my career managing Quick Serve restaurants throughout the South Hills before transitioning into financial analysis. During COVID, I made a career shift into IT, supporting proprietary lending technology. Today, I work as a systems analyst at UPMC.
Community service has always been important to me. I’ve volunteered on my church’s communications committee, led Vacation Bible School, and spent years supporting Jubilee Christian School as a parent volunteer and board vice president. As my family has become more involved in Green Tree, I’ve taken on new roles, including serving on the Planning Commission.
I believe that good leadership starts with listening. My experience has taught me that success comes from understanding the needs of those I serve and working together to find the best solutions. I’m running for Borough Council to ensure Green Tree remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family.

GDOVIC
DEMOCRAT
I am announcing my candidacy for the Green Tree Borough Council. A lifelong resident of the Keystone Oaks school district and a Green Tree resident for 30 years, I am deeply committed to serving my community. As a small business owner of The Zen Bee and a retired trauma burn nurse, I thrive under pressure and am passionate about helping others.
Throughout my children’s school years, I was an active volunteer, dedicating hundreds of hours to the PFO, supporting local schools, and engaging in community events. I have been a familiar face at soccer and football games, the Green Tree swimming pool, the Farmers Market, and Octoberfest. My commitment extends beyond my own family, as seen in my #BeeWarmPittsburghInitiative, where I have donated over 200 crocheted hats, scarves, and care packages to Pittsburgh’s unhoused individuals.
I am running for council to ensure residents feel heard and included in decision-making. I believe in working together, regardless of political affiliation, to strengthen community relationships and create a safer, more prosperous Green Tree. With humility and a dedication to listening, serving, and uniting, I am asking for the community’s support and vote.
GRAB
Andrew
REBUBLICAN
Andrew Grab is excited to announce his candidacy for Green Tree Borough Council. A resident since 2020, he moved with his wife and two young sons into his wife’s family home, drawn by the community’s parks, schools, and active engagement. With a career in service, supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism, Andy has a deep commitment to helping others.
Since moving to Green Tree, he has become actively involved by coaching youth sports and serving as a volunteer firefighter, earning recognition as the department’s “Top Responder” for three consecutive years. His dedication to community service fuels his desire to bring accountability, transparency, and improved communication between the borough government and residents.
Running alongside a bipartisan group, Andy believes public servants must prioritize citizens over politics. He criticizes the current council for distancing itself from residents and disregarding community input, particularly on issues like the pool project, where over 400 voices were ignored. Witnessing this indifference inspired him to step up and advocate for a more responsive government.
Andy is committed to making Green Tree a welcoming, thriving community and asks for support in his mission to listen, serve, and unite.
NICHOLAS
CALLAS
DEMOCRAT
My name is Nicholas Callas, and I’m running for Green Tree Borough Council.
A dedicated communication professional, I am the producer for the morning show on 93.7 The Fan and the media specialist for The Municipality of Bethel Park. In these roles, I am responsible for social media and video productions; productions that include broadcasting and streaming the monthly municipal council meetings.
I am fortunate to work with respectable council members and a great team of professionals in Bethel Park. I’ve seen how a council and community government can work together to adequately serve. As I grew closer to Green Tree community initiatives, my experiences watching the lack of respect and attention the current council demonstrates led to my decision to run.
I am running not because I have to, but because I believe I can make a positive impact on the community I love. My skills in mass communication and experience working in a neighboring local government make me uniquely qualified to serve the community I grew up in and reside in to this day. Anyone who knows me from years of umpiring in Green Tree knows I am firm, but also fair and kind. Most important, I will ensure that I have the knowledge needed to complete what is asked of me, and I will take feedback from the community to make the best decisions for it.
Voting for me and supporting the Unity Campaign means you're voting for a Green Tree that prioritizes the needs of the citizens.
I care about what happens to the pool. I care about your concerns for PENNDOT’s draft of the new interchanges. Let me serve you and represent this area with the love and diligence it deserves.
Thank you for your consideration and support.
Listening, Serving, Uniting Green Tree.

KARA
REPUBLICAN
My name is Kara Martorella, and I am announcing my candidacy for Green Tree Borough Council.
As a lifelong Green Tree resident, I feel a duty to work in the service of my incredible neighbors and beloved community. I am a proud alum of Aiken Elementary and a graduate of Keystone Oaks High School.
Some of my most cherished memories are wrapped up in the warmth of this community, from walking to Green Tree Pool on hot summer days, to endless softball tournaments at Hemlock Field. However, the memory I hold most dear is meeting my husband at the Green Tree Pool the summer I was 13.
We now get the opportunity to raise our three kids in this amazing community. Both my husband and I volunteer our time and talents to coaching youth sports in the district. I coached youth soccer and am currently in my third year coaching our D3 KO Youth Cheerleaders.
I believe public service starts by sincerely listening to residents and leading through a selfless dedication to our community.
I am honored to be part of the Green Tree Unity Campaign. With diverse backgrounds, experiences, and opinions, the members of The Green Tree Unity Campaign, four Republicans and three Democrats, work together, across party lines, to advocate for a more prosperous and welcoming Green Tree for all.
The Green Tree Unity Campaign shares a commitment to enhance communications between the borough government and borough residents, increase accountability for council actions, and implement industry best practices designed to enable transparency.
We see a thriving Green Tree Borough that uplifts the voices, experiences, and opinions of all community residents.
Thank you for your consideration and support.
DAVID
REPUBLICAN
REA
I’ve spent most of my life in Green Tree, and for over a decade I’ve been proud to serve on Borough Council. This community has shaped who I am, and I’ve always tried to lead with transparency, listen to residents, and make decisions that put Green Tree first.
Public safety has always been a top priority. I’ve supported increased funding for the Green Tree Volunteer Fire Company and worked to preserve the Green Tree Police Department - ensuring a visible, responsive force that is dedicated to our community needs.
I’ve focused on making smart, cost-effective decisions by using the strengths of our in-house team. This includes supporting our Public Works Department and keeping pool management local instead of outsourcing.
When the pool was at risk of closing during the pandemic - and again this year when concerns came up about the redesign - I fought to keep it open and made sure residents’ voices were heard.
Professionally, I serve as the Managing Director of Organizational Development at Catalyst Connection, where I help manufacturers build strong, people-focused teams.
Outside of work and Council, I coach my sons’ ice hockey teams—my favorite job of all. My wife Jaime and I are raising Luca (12) and Enzo (7), both students at Keystone Oaks. Watching them grow up here is a daily reminder of why I care so deeply about our Borough, and why I’m committed to helping it thrive for the next generation.

ED
Democrat - Mayor Candidate
I am excited to announce that I am running for re-election as Mayor of Green Tree.
As a life-long Allegheny County resident and a Green Tree resident of over 40 years, I am committed to work in the service of our incredible community.
Following my undergraduate degree from Carnegie Mellon University, I completed law school at the University of Pittsburgh and obtained my masters in Administration of Justice from American University in Washington D.C. My educational experiences prepared me for a career advocating on behalf of defendants as a civil litigation attorney.
For the past 12 years, I proudly served Green Tree as the borough mayor. Prior to being elected mayor, I served eight years on Green Tree Borough Council. I have sat on the borough planning commission and the zoning hearing board. Additionally, I am the former president of KO Soccer association, and a former youth soccer coach and referee.
Together with my wife of 46 years, Cathy, we raised three successful children and are the grandparents of four grandchildren.
Thank you for the opportunity to continue serving our wonderful community. I sincerely appreciate your consideration and support.
